The team known as the Pirates had its beginning in 1947. The Pirates played continually in the Producers League from its inception in 1949. When the Producers League folded, the Pirates joined the Qu’Appelle Valley League.
In 2016, the Pirates Baseball Team was re-established and the Pirates joined the Saskota Baseball League. Under the direction of Rhett Larsen, major upgrades were made to the ball diamond including a new backstop; dug outs and a concession booth.
Games are always posted on the sandwich board at the Village Office. Play gets underway at 6:45 pm.

In 2021, the Pirates held a Jersey Raffle to raise funds for ball diamond maintenance and the Windthorst Arena. Winners of the Jerseys were: Shea Weber Jersey – Jeannie Greenbank, Wawota; Connor McDavid Jersey – Dryden Hoffart, Montmartre; Alexander Sullman Jersey – Ian Morrison, Regina.
2021 Windthorst Pirates
The Windthorst Pirates won the Producer’s League Championship in 1989, the first time they had won since the 1970s, apparently. What other years did they win, and are there any old pictures of teams you can place online please? Surely there are some long-timers around who have copies available, or maybe something in the town office files?
