About Us

Windthorst Library has been a part of the community of Windthorst since 1966. At that time the library was a small collection of donated books kept at the telephone office. In 1969 the library joined the Southeast Regional Library and moved to a newly built facility made ready for the Library and Village Office

The Library currently has 6 board members and is always looking for new interested community members to join. Shirley Gentes is the contact if you are interested in joining us. New board members are always welcome.

The Library Board plans activities for the community such as:

  • Holiday Kids’ Crafts
  • Ongoing Kids’ Coloring Contests
  • Monthly Library Raffle Draw for books and prizes
  • Photography contests, Lego contests and others throughout the year
  • Summer Reading Program and Saskatchewan Library Week activites
  • Writing Workshops for Teens and Mobile Playground in the summer
  • Adult programming such as knitting, jewellery making

In the past we have offered preschool story hours, bookclubs, artist and author visits, quilting and sewing workshops. If there is a program you would be interested in, let us know!

Find us on Facebook and Twitter. We are collecting the top books you are reading! See “What’s New” at your library. “Like” us and win prizes!!  Watch for our monthly newsletter in your mailbox.

In our library we have:

  • Free library cards to residents in and around the community
  • DVD Collections
  • 2 Public Computers
  • Books on CD
  • Large print pooks available
  • Current publications of magazines

Go to our website to find SILS – a province wide website to order material from the Internet. Click on “Easy Search” All you need is your free library card and a PIN. You can order books, DVDs, magazines, audiobooks, paperbacks, large print, music CDs, articles, graphic novels or download e-books.

Browse “Zinio” – It lets you download magazines with no checkouts, holds or limits to the number of magazines you can access. Check out “Consumer Reports” with information on the latest products consumers are buying.

  • Windthorst Library is Wheelchair Accessible, with one chair available on site.
  • We can also display local artwork and handiwork to the community.
  • We are a meeting place for the Horticulture Society and available for other local groups.

Windthorst Library board and staff members look forward to your next visit to our library. Come in and see what we have to offer.
